Repatriation to Bulgaria

Repatriation to Bulgaria currently appears to be an attractive option. It boasts a mild climate, the sea, affordable real estate, a low tax rate (income tax is 10%), and a neutral population.

Repatriates are not required to speak the state language, live here, renounce their primary language, passport, or invest in a business. They only need to prove their Bulgarian roots.

Many ethnic Bulgarians have long lived in Ukraine, especially in the southern regions, where entire Bulgarian settlements existed, allowing their descendants to qualify for repatriation to Bulgaria.

The Bulgarian Citizenship Law provides preferential terms for citizens of the former CIS.

Eligibility requirements:
· Adulthood;
· No criminal record;
· No restrictions on entry into the EU;
· A favorable credit history.

The following documents must be attached to the application:

International and national passports;

Birth certificate of the applicant;

Birth certificate of the parent of Bulgarian descent;

Marriage certificate of the parents;

Proof of family kinship with a Bulgarian by nationality;

A certificate from a mental health clinic;

A physician’s report on general health and the absence of infectious diseases;

A certificate of no criminal record.

Proof of Bulgarian descent and other documents from the list must be submitted in person to the Bulgarian Ministry of Justice.
